Research Skill Accelerate Program

Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) ecosystem is vital for the socio-economic development of the State and the Country. It is essential to strengthen STEM education and provide early exposure to faculty members in emerging technologies to create an innovation-driven environment.

Punjab, with over 350 degree colleges offering courses in science and engineering disciplines and several premier research institutes, holds significant potential in this regard. The premier institutions are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and are engaged in high-end scientific research. However, there exist gaps particularly in terms of research exposure and orientation among faculty members in many colleges.

To address this, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) has taken a proactive initiative by launching the Research Skill Accelerate Program. The objective of this program is to augment the research skill set of college faculty by giving them meaningful exposure to cutting-edge research and technologies at an early stage of their careers.

The program aims to train faculty with hands-on exposure to advanced research areas and methodologies, thereby strengthening their contribution to STEM education and innovation in their respective institutions.

For the current year, proposals submitted by Institutions viz. BRIC - National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute, Mohali, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana have been selected by the Experts Group to host training workshops in the domains of agriculture, advanced manufacturing and geospatial technologies, respectively.

This initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in bridging research gaps, enhancing faculty competencies, and contributing meaningfully to the development of a vibrant, innovation-based STI ecosystem in Punjab
